I love that my job as a maternity and newborn photographer keeps me on my toes. Sometimes I’m roaming around in the great outdoors – which has me literally rolling on the ground getting the best shots ….
– and sometimes I shoot in the private sanctuary of my studio, where the lighting is always perfect and there are zero distractions from the rest of the world.
My recent maternity shoot with Ms. Cassie was a little bit of both, and it was a downright therapeutic session. The studio was quiet and calm, and I was able to capture some insanely gorgeous images (it helps that Cassie is such a babe). Cassie was 35 weeks along at the time of her session and is due very very soon! Some of Cassie’s favorite things are Crossfit, Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice (which she says baby’s dad is super helpful with squeezing fresh oranges to freeze the juice) and she loves Dining Out! (Me too!)
I can’t get enough of the way the light hits her baby bump in these shots! And how about these images below? Stunning!
Needless to say, from the location to the clothing to the light and beyond, every element came together to make for some incredibly beautiful images.
Before her session, Cassie was feeling pretty nervous about our shoot together because she thought ” I am too picky and taking too much time…” Afterward she said, “Amazing! All that I had hoped for.”
I asked her what kind of look she was going for, she replied about her choice of outfits… the “Red Dress – Bold and Sexy, White Lace Dress – Angelic, Classy, Innocent, Loving” – and I think she absolutely ROCKED IT!
We all know that Mom and her baby are the stars of the show when it comes to a maternity session, but there’s no denying the sweetness of having the baby’s family in the frame, too. I love capturing the raw, candid moments between parents and siblings, and pressing pause on a moment in time that would otherwise go by so quickly and without preservation!
I asked Cassie “do you have a name picked out yet? What is it? (If you don’t mind sharing.) How/why did you choose this name?” Cassie replied: “Rogue (William/Jackson)”
Middle name still not sure of. But I’m honoring my mothers brother who passed away at age 7. His name was William Jackson. I like Rogue because it’s unique, uncommon, rebellious, badass, follows his own rules, and independent.” Awesome Cassie, it’s definitely unique! I like it!
What’s one piece of advice you would give to other expecting mothers for the session, Cassie? “Know what you want and be prepared” … Cassie states “Have a vision! Google images that you like beforehand.”
I am all about those dresses, her beautiful hair and makeup – aren’t you? FLAW-LESS! You make my job easy, Cassie, and it was an absolute pleasure to hang out with you and photograph you during this sweet time of your life! I’m so excited for your little one to arrive!
